Q. How much do tryouts cost?
A. The tryout registration fee is $25 for all new players. This include three days of player tryouts plus a training shirt. Registration for current U11-U18 Rush Wisconsin West players is $15.
Q. Does everyone make the team when they try out with Rush?
A. At U11-14, our tryouts serve as a player ID and team placement session. We will make every effort to find the appropriate level of play for each player who signs up. Certain circumstances may not make this possible. At U15 and older, our goal is to form the most competitive teams possible. This means that some players may not be offered a roster spot, whether or not they have played with Rush Wisconsin West in the past. It is very important that players attend as many tryout dates as possible to get a thorough evaluation.
Q. My daughter is a 2011 birth year. When should she attend tryouts?
A. If your player is a 2011 birth year and going into 8th grade, she should attend tryouts on June 9th, 10th, and 11th from 5:30-7:00 pm. If your player is a 2011 birth year and going into high school, she should attend try-outs on June 17th and 18th from 5:30-7:00 pm.
Q. Will there be tryouts for Academy (2018-2016 birth years)?
A. Yes. We will hold mock tryouts on June 2nd and June 3rd from 5:30-7:00 pm. While not required, we encourage all academy aged players to register and attend mock tryouts so they become familiar with the tryout process. This will also help our coaches determine if the academy is the correct placement for your player. The registration fee for the mock tryouts is $10. This fee includes a try-out shirt for all
new player registrations. Use the registration link to register. If your player does not attend mock tryouts, they are able to direct register once registration opens in June.
Q. What if my player can't make the tryout dates?
A. Every effort should be made to attend all tryout dates, especially at U15 and older. Evaluations will be based only on what the technical staff sees at tryouts, so attending each session gives them the best chance to make the right decision for each player. Make-up tryout dates might be scheduled upon request, but only if there is still space on the appropriate team.
Q. Will there be an opportunity for my player to "play up?"
A. It is very important to understand that playing with older players does not always mean playing at a higher level. That being said, we do focus primarily on the development of the individual player and will look to place everyone in the appropriate environment. Age groups have been assigned to tryout together so the technical staff can see how players react with different levels of pressure. The groups will be adjusted throughout tryout week to ensure competitiveness, and the technical staff may ask that a player attends the tryout of another age group. These requests come completely at the discretion of the technical staff. Parent or player requests will not be honored.
