A Game-Changer for Young Soccer Stars: Standout Coach Joins Rush Wisconsin West!

If you have a youth soccer player in your household, you already know when it comes to developing young athletes, coaching matters. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Ryan Raufus - an accomplished coach with an incredible track record - has joined Rush Wisconsin West as director of coaching!

Raufus comes to Rush WI West through a partnership with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he has also been named assistant soccer coach.

The right soccer coach for the right soccer club

Rush Wisconsin West is the only local, accredited Academy-level program that provides a structured, high-quality soccer experience from the early years through high school. RWW prides itself on using USSF- and RUSH-certified professional coaches who follow a proven curriculum at every level of play.

That’s where Ryan Raufus comes in. Raufus served as head women’s soccer coach at UW – Stout for 14 years, becoming the program’s all-time winningest coach. He has also coached multiple teams at Salvo Soccer Club in the Minnesota National Premier League (NPL), as well as high school soccer at La Crescent High School and La Crosse Logan High School, making him skilled at developing players at every level.

But what truly makes Raufus a perfect fit for RWW’s approach is how he prioritizes player development, a positive environment, and a lifelong love for the game — all things that align perfectly with RWW’s mission.

“This move demonstrates how committed we are to our players’ success, both on and off the field,” said Scott Thesing, president of Rush Wisconsin West.

What this means for area soccer players

Having a director of coaching like Raufus at RWW means young players will begin playing soccer under someone who knows how to nurture talent and inspire young athletes. For older players, Raufus brings firsthand knowledge of what it takes to play at the collegiate level and provides advanced tactical development, mentorship, and guidance for the next step.

“The addition of Coach Raufus solidifies Rush WI West’s position as the area’s premier youth soccer club,” said Thesing. “The combination of high-level coaching, a structured curriculum, and now direct access to collegiate coaching expertise makes Rush WI West the best choice for players who want to reach their full potential.”

If you’d like your child to benefit from the expertise and experience of Coach Raufus and the elite coaching at RWW, stay tuned for tryout dates. More information is coming soon!
